Subject: Black Sea, drone hits ship flying the flag of San Marino
On the evening of yesterday, 12/01/2026, a drone struck the General Cargo vessel M/V BLUE BEAD (IMO 9171113), flying the flag of San Marino. Following the incident, the Flag State initiated the procedures in case of accidents.
In this regard, international information channels were promptly activated, giving priority to institutional ones connected to theUkrainian Ministry of Transport, from which an initial confirmation of the incident was received, noting that damage to the ship is absent or not significant and that apparently there are no injured persons.
Subsequently, the ship’s Company was contacted and expressed appreciation for the timely activation of the procedures even in the absence of a direct distress call. The Greek Company reported that the vessel was leaving the port corridor with its lights off, in accordance with instructions from the Ukrainian authorities, and that some damage was present, still to be assessed, on the port (left) side of the ship near one of the lifeboats. It was also reported that one seafarer sustained a minor injury to a hand, likely occurring during the hectic moments following the incident.
During the night, the Ukrainian authorities sent the Ship Registry an information note stating that on 12/01/2026, during an air raid alert, an attack drone reportedly struck the vessel “BLUE BEAD” while departing from the port of Chornomorsk bound for Ravenna (Italy), with 22 crew members on board and a cargo of 27,000 tonnes of corn. The note indicates that the impact affected the port side of the ship, causing injury to one crew member not requiring hospitalization, and that the vessel continued its voyage, moving away from the danger zone.
At this time, the Flag State continues to provide remote support to the Company, including arrangements for the disembarkation of the injured seafarer and the necessary repair activities, reserving the right to further investigate the incident at the first safe port of call.

Oggetto: Mar Nero, drone colpisce nave con bandiera di San Marino
Nella serata di ieri 12/01/2026, un drone ha colpito la nave General Cargo M/V BLUE BEAD (IMO 9171113), battente bandiera di San Marino. A seguito dell’evento, il dipartimento di Flag State ha avviato le procedure previste in caso d’incidenti.
Al riguardo sono stati prontamente attivati i canali informativi internazionali, con priorità verso quelli istituzionali connessi alMinistero dei Trasporti ucraino, dal quale è pervenuta una prima conferma dell’accaduto, evidenziando che i danni alla nave risultano assenti o non significativi e che apparentemente non ci sono persone ferite.
Successivamente è stata contattata la Company della nave, che ha espresso apprezzamento per l’attivazione tempestiva delle procedure anche in assenza di una chiamata diretta di soccorso. La Company di nazionalità Greca, riferiva che l’unità stava lasciando il corridoio portuale a luci spente, secondo le indicazioni delle autorità ucraine, e che erano presenti alcuni danni, da meglio valutare, sul lato sinistro nave in prossimità di una delle imbarcazioni di salvataggio. Viene inoltre segnalato che un marittimo ha riportato un lieve infortunio a una mano, probabilmente avvenuto nelle concitate fasi successive all’evento.
Nel corso della notte, le autorità ucraine hanno trasmesso al Registro Navale una nota informativa in cui si riferisce che, in data12/01/2026, durante un allarme aereo, un drone d’attacco avrebbe colpito la nave “BLUE BEAD” in fase di partenza dal porto di Chornomorsk verso Ravenna (Italia), con a bordo 22 membri di equipaggio e un carico di 27.000 tonnellate di mais. La nota indica che l’impatto avrebbe interessato il lato sinistro nave, causando il ferimento di un membro dell’equipaggio, non tale da richiedere ospedalizzazione, e che la nave ha proseguito la navigazione allontanandosi dalla zona di pericolo.
In questi minuti prosegue il supporto da remoto da parte del Flag State alla Company, anche per lo sbarco del marittimo infortunato e per le attività di riparazione necessarie, riservandosi di approfondire l’accaduto al primo approdo sicuro.
