Authorisation as Training Centres (Education and CoC)

This section provides the applicable requirements, guidance and application forms for organisations seeking authorisation to deliver maritime professional education and training under the San Marino maritime framework.

Two separate authorisation pathways are available. The first applies to Maritime Education Training Centres delivering courses for candidates seeking qualifications as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch or Master on commercial yachts below 500 GT, operating on near-coastal voyages within the limits established for these qualifications. The second applies to STCW Training Centres intending to provide professional training leading to Certificates of Competency issued in accordance with the applicable international standards.

Training providers should carefully review the requirements associated with the relevant type of authorisation before submitting an application. The organisation must demonstrate that it has suitable facilities, qualified instructors, appropriate training programmes, teaching resources, assessment procedures and an effective quality-management system.

Applicants must complete the corresponding application form and provide all required supporting documentation. The submitted information will be assessed by the San Marino Maritime Authority to verify that the organisation, its personnel and its training activities meet the applicable standards.

Authorised training centres are responsible for maintaining the required standards throughout the validity of their authorisation and for promptly notifying the Maritime Authority of any significant changes affecting their organisation, personnel, facilities or approved training programmes.
